Red Sandstone Rock Formations

from $20.00

Garden of the Gods, Colorado.

A winter dusting of snow details the orange sandstone rock formations that make up Garden of the Gods National Landmark.

Roughly 65 million years ago, as tectonic plates collided, overlying layers of sedimentary rock were forced upwards creating the iconic sandstone formations we see today. This region was originally inhabited by the Ute and Cheyenne peoples.
